One cult fashion label plus one cult musician apparently equals a pretty cool capsule. New York-based menswear line Rochambeau has teamed up with the style-savvy Brooklyn-based rapper with a tongue-twister name, Theophilus London, to create a ten piece collection. Theophilus met Rochambeau designers Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper (who had been Theo fans since the release of This Charming Mixtape in 2009) by chance in Paris and ended up coming to the duo’s Fall ‘12 presentation. “Theo really liked the hats we showed, so we literally brought one of them to his place the next day and began discussing what we could do,” said the designers.

The team developed a collection in collaboration with the rapper’s clothing brand, LVRS, that Mr. London could wear on his tour. “His willingness to take risks and [embrace] non-traditional styles is what we most respected. That made it easy to merge our design with his vision,” the designers explained. In a palette of color-blocked neutrals and whites, the Roman-inspired collection, which features everything from harnesses to skirts, is indeed a “non-traditional,” fresh take on R&B garb. Theo’s updated look also spurred the creation of “LOUD,” a new music video that shows the rapper and his band dressed tip-to-toe in the capsule. Ranging between $270 and $500, the clothes will be available online at www.rochambeau.us.com and at select retailers like The Webster, Miami, this February.
