Lauren Bush And Judith Leiber Debut FEED For Evening
20 Apr 2011, 10:36 pm

Philanthropically-minded designer and high-profile bride-to-be Lauren Bush is famous for carrying her burlap FEED totes to even the biggest-deal social events. But, she concedes, “I know not all women are inclined to do that.” So Bush has teamed up with Judith Leiber—”the industry standard” for evening clutches, she points out—to launch the line’s first-ever nighttime option.

The clutch retails for $495, far less than many of Leiber’s more elaborately bejeweled minaudières, and $250 from every bag sold will go to supporting global food-supply programs. In fact, each sale will provide 1,000 school meals for children in need, the largest amount yet associated with one of FEED’s products.

Available in gold or silver metallic linen, the bag goes on sale at Judith Leiber stores, on its Web site, and at Bergdorf Goodman’s Leiber boutique May 5. Bush has already carried it once—to the Accessories Council’s ACE Awards last fall, where she picked up the humanitarian prize—but she’ll give it the official launch on May 6, when she and her mother, Sharon, will visit Bergdorf Goodman for a Mother’s Day event. And now guests presumably also know what to carry when Bush ties the knot with fiancé David Lauren.
