Erin Fetherston and Gabe Saporta jetted off to St. Nicholas Abbey in Barbados, where they got married on May 26. Here, the designer shares some snaps from her tropical honeymoon, exclusively with Style.com.
Gabe and I got married in Barbados over Memorial Day weekend. We fell in love with Barbados on our first visit there over New Year’s this year. It’s actually where we made our engagement official. With its pristine beaches, mahogany forests, and lush junglescapes, the island is full of natural beauty and old-world charm. Here are a few glimpses into our honeymoon spent at the wonderful Coral Reef Club on the Bajan western shore.
After all the excitement and preparation that goes into a destination wedding, we were so happy to finally get to relax on the beach the day after our ceremony. The Caribbean waters are so warm and clear. It made for excellent swimming and snorkeling. We saw amazing tropical fish in the reef that protects this enclave of the beach.
I’ve always loved the forest and the sea, and this is one of the few places in the world where I’ve seen them collide. We loved lounging beneath these giant, magical mahogany trees.
The sand was so soft and fine, I loved sinking my feet into it.
These are my go-to beach accessories: a panama hat and an oversized raffia tote, packed with loads of sunscreen, of course!
The sunsets in Barbados were amazing. I loved the electric shades of pink, fuchsia, and cobalt that lit up the night sky. This was the view from our terrace. We overlooked a little paradise of lush gardens at the ocean’s edge.
I packed an all-white wardrobe for the entire week. White has always been one of my favorite colors to wear, so I was ready to embrace my bridal style.
We had several bursts of tropical rain while we there, which were mostly refreshing. “Liquid sunshine,” as they say. Fortunately, the rain decided to skip over our wedding day!
This is a peek into the magical jungle that surrounds St. Nicholas Abbey, the historical plantation where we got married.
This is Gabe and I out on our first date as husband and wife. We went to have dinner at The Cliff which is an incredible restaurant built into the side of a rocky bluff overlooking the ocean. After the crescendo of our wedding celebration, it was nice to have a quiet, romantic evening together.
