Food trucks are on every other street corner these days, but news of a shoe truck caught our attention. Posted at Pier 57 from today, espadrille brand Soludos’ latest pop-up is a vintage yellow Citroen H van stocked with the label’s colorful jute-soled canvas flats. “From the start of Soludos, we always wanted to do a mobile retail space that could travel from beach to city,” said designer Nick Brown. “The West Side Highway Park is the closest NYC gets to a boardwalk, so it seemed a natural fit.” he added. The rolling shop—which, in addition to Soludos classics, will offer the latest addition to the line’s oeuvre: lace flats—will be stationed at the pier through Labor Day. But naturally, such a sale can’t stay parked—Brown plans to take the van for a jaunt in Montauk as well as other waterfront hot spots.”Soludos is all about a celebration of summer,” said Brown. “And we want to be where the summer is.”
