Leave it to Riccardo Tisci to twist couture’s codes. After skipping the Haute Couture runway last season, Givenchy has now revealed a single sweatshirt, which, crafted entirely from one piece of tulle, was created in collaboration with artist Benjamin Shine. The seemingly unisex black-and-gray piece depicts an abstract Madonna shrouded in light—an interpretation of the house’s Spring ’13 Menswear prints. It would appear that Tisci is creating a whole new niche for himself in fashion’s highest bracket: iconoclastic couture, here at its very best.

Benjamin Shine x Givenchy’s sweatshirts will be made-to-order from the house’s couture salons.
