Last summer, just in time for the London Olympics, Opening Ceremony teamed up with Adidas to create a capsule range of swimming and cycling apparel. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim so enjoyed the sporty experience that they’ve joined forces with the brand again and released a second installment of the athletic collaboration. On Saturday, Leon and Lim invited friends such as Rita Ora and Alessandra Balazs to celebrate the collection with a game of Ping-Pong at Spin at the Standard in Downtown L.A. “Carol and I both played tennis in high school, and now we’re obsessed with Ping-Pong. This collaboration is the Racket collection,” Leon said of the range, which also includes running separates and shoes. The wares are reinterpretations of Adidas Originals and boast a nineties feel with an OC twist. “We’re very tight, but we’re both supercompetitive,” the designer said of he and Lim as he geared up to play longtime friend, and frequent OC collaborator, Spike Jonze. And after beating Leon in the final set, Jonze accepted his victory. “I beat Umberto for the very first time tonight,” he told Style.com. But he couldn’t take too much credit for the win—the filmmaker joked that Leon’s appreciation for Spin’s spring cocktails worked in his favor.
