Label: Erin Barr
Need to Know: Erin Barr—a Wisconsin native who launched her line in 2011—sent her fourth collection down the catwalk on Thursday. And while the concept behind her new range was a return to nature (evident in her soft mosses, mints, neutrals, and a playful speckled print inspired by a loon’s feathers), her Fall ’13 woman still had an urban sensibility. Sharp lines and asymmetry appeared on skirts with sheer optical-illusion layers, while unexpected peekaboo cutouts (like oval-shaped openings on the shoulders of a sage drawstring jacket, rectangular cuts in the center of cropped leather tops, and shapely slits behind the knees of tailored satin trousers) showed skin with a sense of modesty. And for the true city chick, there was lots and lots of black.
She Says: “I wanted a bit of masculinity to come through. I love slits and cutouts, but I don’t like to overdo it. My girl is a tomboy, but she likes a little bit of femininity.”
Where to Find It: Brooklyn Fox in New York, Bleu in L.A., Be-Jewel in Houston.
