Label: Anndra Neen by Phoebe and Annette Stephens
Need to know: The sister act’s Spring 2013 jewelry collection was inspired by the curved, linear choreography of 1930’s Busby Berkeley movies, fused with motifs and elements taken directly from nature. The statement pieces in mirrored, polished silver and melted brass feature repeating patterns of teardrops and crescent shapes, while cascading strands call to mind movements created by Berkeley’s dancers. The presentation was Anndra Neen’s first showing with models, who were clad in gold-foiled metallic twill and pewter taffeta pantsuits by ready-to-wear line Tome.
She says: “We used a lot of same textures he [Berkeley] makes with his women with our jewelry—clean, architectural shapes. When you see his women from far away, they don’t look like pople, they look like forms and shapes, so we applied that idea to what we do with handmade metal,” said Annette Stephens.
