We were saddened to hear about the death by apparent suicide of the film director Tony Scott, 68. Though the British-born Scott was famous for Hollywood blockbusters like Top Gun, it was his first film, The Hunger, that was most beloved by the fashion community. Critically panned at the time of its release in 1983, the movie’s moody visuals, arch yet touching performances (Deneuve and Bowie as the world’s most glamorous and doomed vampire couple), and kinetic opening sequence starring Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy (below) have made it an endless source of inspiration for stylists and designers.
