To our grave disappointment, Prince George will not be wearing custom Alexander McQueen to his upcoming christening. Rather, the royal family has enlisted the queen’s couturier, Angela Kelly, to reproduce the royal baby gown that has been worn by sixty regal wee ones since it was created by Janet Sutherland for Queen Victoria’s oldest daughter in 1841 (at 172 years old, the original is apparently too delicate to be donned by His Highness). The Sunday Times reports that Jason Bell—a lensman known for his spreads in GQ, Vanity Fair, and more—has been named as the official christening photographer. However, we hope that Mario Testino will at least get an invite to the post-ceremony party.
