Katie Gallagher‘s designs have often been pegged as “vamp,” but that doesn’t mean she shies away from the sun. Over the weekend, the young designer debuted a ten-piece swimwear capsule with an intimate presentation during Miami Swim Week. Gallagher reinterpreted some of her signature bodysuits—often best-sellers in her ready-to-wear collections—in waterproof materials, “so it came to me naturally,” she told Style.com. Highlights here included convertible wrapping tops, slightly retro full-coverage briefs, and sleek maillots scattered with cutouts—all offered in a neutral black-and-white palette. Gallagher added that she will include lots of powdery carnation pinks in her forthcoming Spring ’14 lineup. Despite facing a lizard in her shoe and a cockroach in her hotel room during her Florida stay, Gallagher definitely plans to do more swimsuits in the future.
