Paule Ka's surreal Fall '13 accessories

Paule Ka‘s Serge Cajfinger is best known for producing clean, feminine examples of Parisian style—and we saw a lot of that in his Fall ’13 collection. But the designer brought a witty punch to this season’s sharp wares via a range of lighthearted, surreal accessories. “I wanted to add a playful piece to an otherwise sober yet very elegant silhouette. I think that chic can be also full of humor,” Cajfinger tells Style.com. The jewelry offering—an homage to Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau— comprises metal and crystal cuffs, broaches, and necklaces shaped like long-lashed eyes and pouting lips. Each bauble has an air of levity, but one piece—a choker fashioned from two gunmetal and golden hands that sit around the neck—is particularly tongue-in-cheek. Cajfinger, who suggests combining a series of his broaches, or styling one of his necklaces against a dark, somber suit, explains that irreverence is essential to his aesthetic. “I have always worked on how to reveal the utmost elegance of classics while adding a little twist. Every woman wants to feel beautiful but not boring,” he says. “Irreverence is something you can play with to seduce.”

Paule Ka’s surreal wares range from $200-$785, and will be available at pauleka.com and select retailers later this summer.
