Easter Sunday, The New York Way Apr 1st 2013, 18:17 If you made it to upper Fifth Avenue yesterday, you found yourself—as I did—smack in the middle of the colorful procession that is New York’s Easter Parade. There were countless little girls dressed to the nines, an entire family costumed like churchgoing rockabillies in coordinated black-and-white ensembles, and plenty of parade-goers in the requisite cartoonish headpieces, like giant flower baskets and a bright red top hat that was just about as big as the man who wore it. An annual tradition since the late 1800s, the parade has evolved with each generation. Case in point: A boom-box-toting man dressed in an electric orange and lime suit with a television-shaped face frame, bunny ears, and a speech bubble shouting “Happy Easter!” —Katharine K.
