It’s hard not to imagine things are looking good right now at Narciso Rodriguez. The designer is coming off his most lauded collection in seasons, and his first collection of accessories, launched to fanfare for Fall, is now hitting stores. Now, while the iron is hot, he’s undertaking to enter e-commerce, too. “E-commerce was the logical next extension for the company when we thought to redesign our Web site,” Rodriguez says. “It is the best way to directly connect with our customer.”

He is currently undertaking a wholesale redesign of his Web site, which will soon include full shop-online capabilities. In the meantime, though, those farther than a stone’s throw from his bricks-and-mortar retailers, can still get their fix. Until click-to-buy functionality is in place, Rodriguez has put up ready-to-wear (from pre-Fall 2012), shoes, and bags for purchase via an online personal-shopping service. Hit the button and a Rodriguez employee inside the atelier will contact you to complete the purchase. No muss, no fuss (and, we might add, not so dissimilar from the old vendeuses of the couture). Rodriguez’s shoes got the full Barneys fanfare when they launched, but his bags are worth a second look, too: Case in point, the black calf top-handle one here ($3,200, available at NarcisoRodriguez.com).
