Label: Lorry Newhouse designed by Lorry Newhouse and creative director Julia Flynn

Need to Know: Lorry Newhouse loves her eveningwear and Spring 2013 was no exception. At yesterday’s presentation, which, held in a grand building on Central Park West, was a decidedly uptown affair, the label showed debutant-ready gowns, like a white confetti windowpane number that you could just see waltzing around a ballroom. However, the design duo placed a new focus on daywear and separates this season. Powder blue capris with white swallows, as well as some linen suiting options and satin shorts topped with a french lace and sequin blouse, were designed with tea time in mind, while giant flower or crystal-embellished sunglasses by A-Morir embraced the glamour of another era.

They Say: “I was inspired when I went down to the new Renoir collection—but I was not inspired by the nudes. The nudes I’m not so crazy about—and, of course, the fabrics just inspire me more than anything,” said Lorry Newhouse while tending to guests in her iridescent pink dress. Creative director Julia Flynn added, “We like to think of a French schoolgirl going off and stealing her mother’s clothes and running around the Tuileries in the most amazing fabrics and feminine silks.”

Where to Find it: Gail Rothwell in East Hampton, John de Medeiros in Palm Beach, and other select boutiques.
