Label: Illesteva by Daniel Silberman and Jus Ske

Need to know: Silberman and Ske’s handcrafted eyewear earned the designers a spot among the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. And, after viewing their Spring collection, it’s easy to see why. The design duo set a roaring scene at its twenties-inspired presentation. Walking in, guests were treated to a trio of swing dancers spinning to the beats of sultry singer Dida and her live brass band, each member of which was sporting Illesteva shades or specs. Three “cigarette girls” held boxes filled with glasses from the new collection. Illesteva’s Spring looks included fan favorites like their round acetate titanium shades in matte rose, lavender, or black, as well as bamboo and horn looks and an animal-print range, which offered retro shapes in leopard, cheetah, tiger, and zebra. The most interesting pair came in the form of a clear, geometric frame with round John Lennon lenses and a strip of leopard running across the top. To play off their motto, “We’ll protect you, rain or shine,” the pair also debuted their first umbrellas, with intricate gold-plated handles, this season.

They Say: “The concept for our presentation is a night out in the Roaring Twenties at a speakeasy during Prohibition. We did it because we think people in the twenties would have worn our collection, just as people in 20 years could wear it. What we’re doing isn’t trendy, it’s timeless and it’s going to be good forever.”

Where to find it: Illesteva.com, Barneys New York, Opening Ceremony, Colette, Browns, and other select retailers.
