Label: Aiko by designer Cynthia Mittweg

Need to know: Aiko continues to evolve season after season. What started as a playful take on sweatshirt dressing—think classic silhouettes with leather patches and studs—is now a full-on ready-to-wear brand. For Spring, sweatshirts were just one of the highlights. Some had mesh mixed with cotton while others had sexy open backs. Mittweg says she was channeling the way that today’s generation interacts via social media. This translated to a collection with a lot of sheer panels and metallic finishes. But Mittweg’s talent is not solely for designing tops. She has a knack for bottoms, too. There was a series of crepe mini tennis skirts with foiled panels and colored “jelly” leggings that looked like leather. The best look? A flowy maxi dress with a digital print of an orchid petal that had a sheer overlay paired with a blue motorcycle jacket, no sweatshirt required.

She says: “I was really inspired by the way our generation interacts through the many layers of social media,” Mittweg explained. “I used our gradient prints and abstraction of flowers as symbols. There is a softness and hardness in how we choose to expose ourselves today—by either putting it all out there or not revealing much at all.”

Where to find it: Intermix, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.
