Kate Middleton committing a fashion faux pas? Surely you jest.

No, we're not talking about the Kate Middleton topless scandal (there was no fashion being displayed there, if you know what we mean). This is a different situation:

Kate Middleton Clothes

Kate and Prince William thought they were dressing festively and appropriately for a party in the Solomon Islands. Unknowingly, however, they donned attire from the Cook Islands!

Scandalous! In all seriousness, this offended the locals.

It's all good now though, after they straightened it out.

A Clarence House spokesperson explained:

"Items of clothing were left in The Duke and Duchess's hotel room as had previously been agreed with the Solomon Island Government (SIG)."

"Given that the items were not of the same design as the Royal Household had been informed previously, the Duke and Duchess's staff undertook to check that the items of clothing were indeed the gifts of the Government and not a gift from any other individual."

"Once necessary reassurances were received from the Government, mistakenly as it later appeared, Their Royal Highnesses wore the shirt and the dress as an appropriate gesture befitting their close ties to the people of Solomon Islands."

Chalk this one up under #princessproblems.

If nothing else, it must be for Clarence House to deal with relative banality of royal etiquette again instead of fighting the release of Kate Middleton photos in the tabloids.
