For a decidedly low-key spin on the big-ticket movie spectacle, Band of Outsiders queued up the concessions stand and a taco truck Saturday night to accompany their screening of Sundance favorite, Celeste and Jesse Forever. For Rashida Jones, who both stars alongside Andy Samberg and makes her screenwriting debut, the pairing with Band was a foregone conclusion. “Scott [Sternberg] has such great taste in film and fashion, and it was something we had talked about before the movie was even sold,” she said. A longtime fan of the line, Jones even enlisted Sternberg’s help to outfit her and co-star Elijah Woods in the film. And as a first-time screenwriter (Jones cowrote the script with Will McCormack), getting the Band imprimatur was a confidence-boost too. “It’s the ultimate vote of confidence,” she said.

For co-star Chris Messina, the screening meant bringing the film back to its roots—and the city that features prominently in the film. “There’s no place like home,” he enthused to the crowd of family, friends and local L.A. faces including Jones’ Parks and Recreation co-star Adam Scott, Marisa Tomei, Rosemarie DeWitt (both pictured above, with Jones), stylist Jessica de Ruiter, and Vena Cava’s Sophie Buhai. “We hope you like it,” said Messina, to which Jones said with a smile, “and if you don’t, just be like, you made a movie. That’s awesome!”
