After a busy New York fashion week schedule, Diane von Furstenberg chose Los Angeles for the worldwide launch of her new GapKids + DVF collection for girls. “Isn’t this fun?” the designer enthused, surveying the crowd of hot Hollywood moms, their tots, and the requisite fashion fanfare that gathered to toast her collaboration with the retailer, which launches stateside March 15 (worldwide March 28). Paring down her iconic wrap dresses into pint sizes and drawing upon her signature vivid prints and bold palette, the capsule collection seems a natural extension of the DVF brand. “I wanted it to have the essence of DVF, and I wanted every design to be comfortable and optimistic,” the designer explained. Pitch-perfect for spring, the line boasts functionality and wearability where it matters most. “It’s fun, but at the same time it can all work together. I wanted something that the mothers would like, but more importantly, really practical that the kids would really feel comfortable in.” And judging by the likes of Molly Sims, Milla Jovovich, and Jessica Capshaw in attendance, she seems to have found that enviable balance.
