While it’s American culture and fashion of the sixties that we seem to be fixated on right now, the Missoni family used Italian films from the era—when the house got its first big global boom—as a reference point for its upcoming Target collaboration. In this video, debuting exclusively on Style.com, the heritage brand’s ambassador, Margherita Missoni, shares the backstory of the classic Italian brand’s 400-piece collection, set to bow September 13.
“I think it will be great for the Target guest to experience a taste of the Missoni lifestyle, something they might not have been able to do before,” she tells Style.com. “We love that our collection dresses all ages, from toddlers on—it’s for everyone who wants to have a first or second, third, fourth taste of Missoni.”
New Yorkers will get the first helping when the Missoni x Target pop-up store, located at 1095 Sixth Ave. near Bryant Park, opens September 8 on Fashion’s Night Out. “We hope to see everyone in their favorite Missoni for Target pieces throughout fashion week in New York,” Margherita says. “Maybe we’ll see someone riding through the streets on the bike—wouldn’t that be amazing?”
It’s a likely enough scenario, given the current hype about Target’s biggest designer collaboration collection ever. The bike, along with the iPad cases and the blue zigzag puffer jacket, are among some of Margherita’s personal favorites.
